Football season.. Husker game days.. All sorts of food.. Sharing in the food preparation and indulging with friends and family.. Can You Feel It?! In the spirit of Nebraska Football kicking off this week, this weeks CSA featured our favorite game day treat; Salsa!!
The CSA hit Week 12 today, which means just a few shares to go, but before we cap off this 16-week season we need to get soulful! We found some fun items to emphasize soul/football food this week. ‘Garden Salsa’ is our own secret family recipe we have enjoyed for years. It is our most basic salsa, without being basic at all! We describe this one as the perfect combination of warm flavor with a good mixture purees and textures. ‘Corn & Bean Salsa’ strays away from our original recipe and obviously has corn and beans added to it. This flavor is a little sweeter thanks to our wonderful sweet corn! This week our CSA members get to dip into these mason jars full of flavor just in time for the big game this weekend! Your Husker game day celebration will be complete with our salsa to top off your nachos! We want to hear from you, what is your favorite flavor? Garden Salsa or Corn & Bean? Just comment below or email us!
We also wanted to emphasize one of the most flavorful soul foods there is – Jambalaya! Since we have been providing the Okra to our sharing table the past few weeks, we observed that most members were excited and anxious to use it. This week Okra made another appearance in the share for everyone to try! Don’t be worried if you have never used it before, there are so many ways to enjoy it! Try this recipe for Jambalaya with Okra and Peppers! More recipes are also under our “Our Recipes” tab above. We hope you enjoy this week, share your favorite flavor of salsa with us, and have a great time cheering on the Huskers this weekend!! -CLG
